Taken by artist Thomas A Glover, it features Stella Court Treatt and Errol Hinds during their groundbreaking journey from Dodoma to Mongalla in East Africa in 1925. Stella Court Treatt, accompanied by her husband Major Chaplin Court Treatt, became the first individuals to successfully travel by motor vehicle from Cape Town to Cairo between 1924 and 1926. In this image, Stella is seen holding one of the pair of grey monkeys she affectionately named Kima and Bibi while near Victoria Falls. The photograph showcases a unique blend of British colonial attire with African landscapes as both Stella and Errol are dressed in traditional expedition clothing complete with pith helmets. The sense of camaraderie between brother and sister is evident as they stand side by side, capturing a moment frozen in time. This print not only represents an incredible feat accomplished during that era but also highlights the deep connection between humans and animals amidst their adventurous journey through untamed territories.
