The Empire at the Palace: a one-and-a-half mile worlds tour. The Festival of Empire at the Crystal Palace (held from May to October 1911), featured the All-Red route, a tour by specially-built electric railway and mechanical boat, around reconstructions of various parts of the British Empire, and past buildings representing the Overseas Dominions. 1. The Festival of Empire at the Crystal Palace, held from May to October 1911, was a grand celebration of the British Empire's vast reach and diversity.
