Guides and Brownies in Shelley staged a trip down Memory Lane to celebrate
Guides and Brownies in Shelley staged a trip down Memory Lane to celebrate the movements 75th birthday. They donned various uniforms hats and badges worn by the girls over the years for two events in the village attended by past and present members and officials. The Rev David Lapworth conducted a birthday service at Shelley Methodist Church. It was attended by girls from the 1st Kirkburton West pack, boys from the local Cub Scout troops and youngsters who are to join the village new Scout group. Guiding district commissioner Mrs Christine Bottom also attended the service. Later the uniforms went on show in an exhibition at the Methodist Schoolroom. There was also an open day and coffee evening for the Guides and Brownies. The event was organised by pack leaders Mrs Delia Rotchell and Mrs Janet Dearnley.
