Ecuador-Galapagos-Volcano Featured 2005 Image

Aerial picture taken on March 2005, of the Cumbre volcano's crater, in the Galapagos Islands, 1.000 km off the coast of Ecuador. Cumbre spewed rivers of lava and sent columns of steam 7 km into the air 14 May 2005. The 1.483 meters high volcano is on the unpopulated island of Fernandina, one of the Galapagos Islands, which are a major tourist attraction. Lava rushing into the sea generated plumes of steam, according to Hugo Yepes, director of the Ecuador Geophysical Institute. Australia-Transport-Maritime-Tasmania Featured 2005 Image

The Spirit of Tasmania III, a German built 174-metre long, 23,663-tonne ocean going passenger and car ferry, moves under the Sydney Harbour bridge, 10 April 2005, on the return leg of one of its trips between Sydney and Tasmania, Australia's only island state. A Tasmanian state government rescue package of 115 million dollars (89 million USD) announced 15 March, has continued the future of the financially-stricken service for another three years, with Spirit III's failure to make money blamed on the introduction of cheap airfares.
