Nails, screws and bolts are stored in home brewing tins at the Maitland Men's Shed in the Hunter Valley. There are now 600 registered Men's Sheds, community spaces where men can do handywork, across Australia and their patron is Tim Mathieson, partner of Australian Prime Minister Julia Gillard and the nation's "First Bloke." Inspired by the Australian experience, sheds have started springing up in Ireland, Britain and New Zealand. AFP PHOTO / Torsten BLACKWOOD / AFP PHOTO / TORSTEN BLACKWOOD
