Ship-France

The French prestigious ocean liner " France" is saluted by the crowd, as it leaves the port of Saint-Nazaire, 19 Novembre 1961. The France was a Compagnie Gnrale Transatlantique ocean liner, constructed by the Chantiers de l Atlantique shipyard at Saint-Nazaire. Launched 11 May 1960, it was put into service in February 1962, combining regular transatlantic crossings - six days and nights - with winter cruises, as well as two world circumnavigations. The France was later renamed SS Norway and undertook mostly cruises for Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL). AFP PHOTO (Photo by - / AFP)

The crowd gathered at the waterfront salutes with admiration as this prestigious vessel embarks on its journey. Constructed by the renowned Chantiers de l'Atlantique shipyard, "France" was a symbol of elegance and luxury. Launched on 11 May 1960, it began its service in February 1962, offering regular transatlantic crossings that lasted six days and nights. Additionally, it provided winter cruises and embarked on two world circumnavigations. The sheer grandeur of "France" captured hearts worldwide as it gracefully sailed across oceans.
