France-Ship-Launching
The ocean liner "France" is launched on May 11, 1960 at the Chantiers de l'Atlantique shipyard, in the port of Saint-Nazaire (France), in front of thousands of spectators.
The France was a Compagnie Gnrale Transatlantique ocean liner, constructed by the Chantiers de l'Atlantique shipyard at Saint-Nazaire. Launched 11 May 1960, she was put into service in February 1962, combining regular transatlantic crossings - six days and nights - with winter cruises, as well as two world circumnavigations. The France was later renamed SS Norway and undertook mostly cruises for Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL). / AFP PHOTO / -
