EDITORS COMMENTS
In this photo print, we witness Erik Lindbergh, the grandson of aviation legend Charles Lindbergh, embarking on a remarkable journey that pays homage to his grandfather's historic transatlantic flight 75 years prior. The date is May 1st, 2002, and the location is Farmingdale, NY. With great determination and a sense of adventure in his eyes, Erik takes off for Paris in "The New Spirit of St. Louis" replicating every step of his grandfather's iconic voyage. This commemorative trip began in April when Erik departed from San Diego's Lindbergh Field. Following the exact flight plan that made Charles Lindbergh an international hero back in 1927, he flew from San Diego to St. Louis before reaching New York City. And today marks another significant milestone as Erik lifts off from Republic Airport in Farmingdale for a non-stop transatlantic flight to Le Bourget Airport outside Paris. What makes this endeavor even more extraordinary is that Erik undertakes it solo aboard a single-engine Lancair Columbia 300 aircraft made with composite materials. As the plane soars through the sky like its predecessor did decades ago, it symbolizes not only technological progress but also honors the indomitable spirit and courage exhibited by Charles Lindbergh all those years ago. Captured by Stan Honda from Agence France-Presse (AFP), this photograph encapsulates both history and tribute as Erik Lindbergh continues his incredible journey across time and
