Born on January 1, 1727, Anne Henriette and her sister, Louise Elisabeth, were raised in the French court and later became consorts to the Polish king, Stanisław Leszczyński, and the Danish king, Christian VI, respectively. In this scene, Anne Henriette is depicted playing the viola da gamba, a popular stringed instrument of the time, while her sister, Louise Elisabeth, plays the viol. Anne Henriette's role as a queen consort began in 1747 when she married King Stanisław Leszczyński of Poland.
