The first British troops to carry the five year old war into German territory crossed the frontier from Beek, Holland, into the Rhineland.
This picture shows: On the steps of the first cafe on the German side of the border, Captain McKay, Sherwood Rangers, of Scarborough, shakes hands with a Dutch woman who is married to a German. She was sent away by the Germans to undergo forced labour.
