Fred Astaire Portrait 1936
Portrait taken in January 1936 of American actor and dancer Fred Astaire. He began his career with his sister Adele as a vaudeville team in 1916 and rose to stardom in the 1920s in Lady be Good. When his sister married, Fred Astaire continued with various partners, notably Ginger Rogers. His many films include Top Hat (1935), Follow the Fleet (1936), and Easter Parade (1948). Fred Astaire revolutionized the musical film with original tap-dance designed by himself. AFP PHOTO
