Erik Lindbergh, grandson of Charles Lindbergh, takes of for Paris in "The New Spirit of St. Louis," 01 May, 2002, from Farmingdale, NY in a memorial voyage replicating his grandfather's famous transatlantic flight 75 years ago. Beginning in April, Erik Lindbergh departed San Diego's Lindbergh Field and followed the "Lone Eagle's" 1927 flight plan from San Diego to St. Louis to New York. Today Erik lifted off from Republic Airport in Farmingdale, NY for the non-stop flight across the Atlantic to Le Bourget Airport, outside Paris.
