This photo taken on February 5, 2014 shows a hot air balloon flying over a temple as they hovers over Mandalay in Myanmar. Between the 11th and 13th centuries, Bagan in Mandalay province in Myanmar was the kingdom's capital, one of the most important centres for learning in Asia, if not the world. The kings and rulers built thousands of temples, more than 3, 000 of which are still standing today. The city is one of the Myanmar's most treasured religious sites and attracts hundreds of visitors a day. But over the past 20 years, many of the temples have been renovated and now bear little resemblance to their original structures. AFP PHOTO / YE AUNG THU / AFP PHOTO / Ye Aung Thu

The historic sandstone island of Fort Denison, formerly Pinchgut Island, is bathed in a golden light as the sun rises over Sydney Harbour on October 10, 2010. The Martello Tower (left side of island), the last of its kind to be built anywhere in the world, was designed to defend Sydney against a possible attack by Russian warships which never eventuated.
