Watercolour on paper, no date (late 18th, early 19th Century). Hand painted copy of an illustration commissioned by William Roxburgh. In his Flora Indica, Roxburgh describes this plant as being found in gardens about Calcutta, where it grows to be a very handsome, middlingsized, ramous tree; flowering time the beginning of the hot season; the seeds ripen during the rains. The plants and seeds were probably brought originally from the eastern frontier of Bengal, where it is indigenous
