Goodnight and published in Francis Grose's "Military Antiquities Respecting a History of the English Army" in 1812, offers a vivid depiction of medieval siege warfare. Soldiers, armed and armored, storm the parapet from the drawbridge of the tower, while their comrades maneuver large pavises, or pavisors, to protect the archers.
