Its wheels, however, are of a pattern introduced by Timothy Hackworth. The engine was built to the specifications of George Stephenson at the Forth Street Works, Newcastle, founded by him and his son. It opened the Worlds first locomotive-worked public railway on September 27th 1825 when it was driven by George Stephenson himself.
